“There’s a certain shimmer that greets you when the first notes of “Vågorna” arrive, a delicate wave of guitar tones that feels both luminous and fragile. Tobias Andersson, together with Joel Fabiansson, Johan Ekeberg and Joel Haag, has crafted an ensemble sound that treats four guitars as one instrument, breathing together, swaying as if in tide and current. It’s a dreamy proposition, and at its best it captures moments of real beauty.” – Mike Gates, UK Vibe
“Sonorous tranquility from a guitar quartet. Vågorna turns to us, the listeners, and invites us to join the journey. It’s not the group identity of the guitarists that is most important, but us the listeners.“ – Leif Carlsson, Lira
“I can’t remember hearing anything similar to this meeting with four electric guitars before and I’m immediately fascinated. It has led to exceptionally beautiful, down-to-earth and thoughtful conversations that lend themselves to creating calm in a troubled time and world.” – Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen
“It is atmospheric, at times intense, at times restful to listen to. The emphasis is on the ensemble playing and listening, where the interplay between the musicians and different temperaments provides dynamics, creates variety and sets the mood. The album consists of eight very concise and accessible tracks with both dreamy, floating basic moods, such as Moineaux and Svartvinter, but also pieces with a more down-to-earth folk tone such as Somehow. Overall, I think that Vågorna is an ambitious and promising release that covers the program description well. I would love to hear a continuation. – Ulf Thelander, Orkesterjournalen
